   The MetaMAP Internet Geospatial Data Server is a robust solution for making geographic data (both graphical and tabular) available to a larger group of users via a web browser. Using MetaMAP as a back-end process to a web server, maps and information can be looked up and displayed through a custom-designed interface that is standards based. By using MetaMAP as the engine for geospatial data access, all of the features of MetaMAP are made available for use, including ODBC access. Geospatial data from any of the more popular GIS systems can be used by the MetaMAP Internet Geospatial Data Server. Since all processing takes place on the server, even end users using older computers or modem-based Internet connections can get phenomenal performance. Also, since there is no browser plug-in to install, end users can utilize their choice of web browser software and can get results from the web server that they can use immediately.
