Northland Telephone Chooses MetaMAP
Lexington, Kentucky--Northland Telephone Company, based in Portland, Maine, has chosen MetaMAP as their new Facility and Geospatial Data Management platform. Northland will use MetaMAP products to manage their facility and landbase data throughout their service area, which covers portions of Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
MetaMAP, Inc. has also been retained to migrate all of their geospatial and facility data from their legacy VAX based RDS system. Their non-graphic facility data will be extracted from ISAM databases and placed in ODBC compliant databases which will be integrated with MetaMAP graphics, and also will be available for use with other ODBC compliant applications. The new system will operate in a Windows NT/9x environment. The new installation will utilize pre-release copies of the new 32 bit MetaMAP version 6. Northland will be using the telephone applications which come standard with MetaMAP, as well as custom procedures which will be prepared for accessing and editing their data.
The data migration will begin on October 1, 1998 and the new system is scheduled to be up and running by December 15, 1998. MetaMAP has aliased the commands of their old system, so little training will be needed on the new system. Training will only be required on the additional functionality which will be available with MetaMAP.
