MetaVUE Utilized as an Airborne Crime Fighting Tool
A frantic mother calls 911 and reports that her ex-husband, who was under a restraining order, was trying to kick down the door to take her child. A few minutes later, she calls back and reports that he took her child and left in a red Monte Carlo. By the time she made the second call, a police helicopter was already pursuing the car and coordinating with patrol cars to pull over the suspect's car to recover the child.
 How is this response time possible? With MetaVUE, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology, and the accurate local Geographic Information System (GIS) data. When the helicopter observer received the call from dispatch, he performed an address search with MetaVUE. Since MetaMAP's efficient data structure allows them to carry the entire GIS database in their onboard PC, the observer located the address in seconds. Then MetaVUE's GPS interface directed them to the shortest route to the appropriate location.
