About MetaMAP

MetaMAP, Inc. was established in 1992 for the purpose of marketing, developing, and supporting MetaMAP Geographic Information System (GIS) software products. The company is based in Lexington, Kentucky.
MetaMAP has GIS/AM/FM software products ranging in price from $95 to $3,995 for single user licenses. Although MetaMAP runs in the Windows 9.x/Windows NT environments, it is often integrated with data and applications on other platforms. This makes MetaMAP uniquely appropriate for anything from a single-user mapping system to a complex interstate, multi-platform WAN, integrating databases with other formats.
In addition to the normal features expected of any AM/FM/GIS software package, there are a few features that set MetaMAP apart from other systems:
Ease of Use

The complexity of MetaMAP does not interfere with the casual user or simple applications. MetaMAP is designed to be complex only when the application calls for it.
Technical Efficiency

MetaMAP is designed from the ground up with efficiency in mind. The disk space for data in the MetaMAP format is 6-20 times more efficient than other GIS platforms. This results in significant savings in hardware, substantially improved speed of data access, and easier distribution of data to users. Because of this efficiency, MetaMAP will outperform other products that are running on hardware that costs 3-4 times more.
Cost Efficiency

First of all, MetaMAP likely will run on PC hardware already owned by the user. Secondly, MetaMAP is all inclusive. Products like 'MetaPLOT' or 'MetANALYSIS' or 'MetaMACRO' do not exist. MetaMAP does not bait their clients with an incomplete product just to sell them expensive modules in the future.
Network Integration

MetaMAP has clients with 10... 20... 50... even 200 users sharing one GIS database. Not uploading/downloading, but live inquiry and editing! MetaMAP's product design taps today's powerful technology to put the burden of processing on the client machines, not the server. This coupled with compact file sizes (which put less strain on the network) makes MetaMAP the ideal enterprise solution. |
